Another Blogkeeping Note
I recently created a new category in my sidebar labeled "Online Finds" to share some of my del.icio.us bookmarks. The links are miscellaneous items that I find interesting and want to give opportunity for others to see. I'm not typing in these links myself; I pasted in a del.icio.us widget so that whatever I tag "linkroll" will show up in my sidebar. If anyone wants to comment on a link, feel free to do so in the comment section of any blog post. The links are usually more interesting than my own posts! :-)
Firefox Frustration
Normally Mozilla Firefox is my browser of choice for the tools that it offers, but now it has failed me. It no longer displays pictures, and will not open Gmail correctly. I do not know what happened, and I don't know how to fix it. Where is my IT guy when I need one? (I don't even know what IT stands for!)
I did search around on the Mozilla Firefox page until I found some lengthy instructions for a possible solution. I started trying to jump through the troubleshooting hoops, but did not get far. Maybe James can figure it out later, but in the meantime, I am a little cranky.
I'm using Internet Explorer right now which is not improving my mood. Only part of my blog header shows up under the blogger bar in this browser. Now I have to fiddle with my template until I hit upon the reason why. It feels a bit like walking around with one's skirt stuck in one's pantyhose. Not pretty. I don't know how many people have been viewing my blog in this embarassing condition.

Down with Internet Explorer!
Based on a recent comment, I grabbed a clue that I should look at my blog with Internet Explorer and made sure that it looks okay. Why, O why is the blogger bar at the top cutting off my header in that browser?!
Do any of my blog readers use IE? Have you wondered why my blog looks ridiculous?
Either I have to fiddle with the template until it looks right in both Firefox and IE, or I'll have to include a disclaimer in my sidebar that this is best viewed in Firefox. Sigh.

Blogkeeping Notes
It is going to take quite awhile to move all my old posts to blogger! As I started the process, I comprehended that I've been blogging since 2004, counting my first blog at anklebiter, courtesy of Brian and Jen. It has been fun to transfer old posts, re-reading past anecdotes about our family.
This week, I concentrated on past recipe posts so that they will be in one place. I'm not sure how much they benefit anyone else, but I use the computer as a high-tech recipe box sometimes when I'm cooking. I now have linked individual recipes in my sidebar to find them easily, filing them under the heading "Our Recipe Box."
Much more work to go...

Secondary Blog
Since Homeschoolblogger just made some updates this weekend and does not have all the bugs worked out, I am going to begin duplicating my posts here in order to have a backup blog. I doubt I'll ever take the time to copy previous posts from my homeschoolblogger blog, but from this point on, I'll attempt dual publishing.
I found this lovely (imho) template by Googling.

New to Blogging...
Saying that I'm new to blogging is probably obvious from the stark appearance of the site. If any of you visiting are more computer savvy and desire to share advice on how to add color and graphics, I'm all ears, or eyes, I guess.
As I learn more, I'll post more lists pertaining to our family's venture in homeschooling.
The title, "Our Side of the Mountain", is derived from one of my oldest son's favorite books: My Side of the Mountain. By the way, a favorite book that he recently read was Journey From Peppermint Street by Meinert DeJong. I myself couldn't put it down. The author gives one a poignant view into the inner thoughts of a young boy: his dreams, fears, joys and perspective on adults as he embarks on a delightful adventure.
